MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you’re looking for something to do inside this weekend and need to get your family pet some exercise, the Minneapolis Convention Center might be the spot.
That’s where the 12th annual Pet Expo kicked off on Saturday. There’s new entertainment that is expected to draw a crowd.
What wouldn’t we do for our four-legged friends, who often times pets are seen as part of the family.
So it’s only fitting to dedicate an entire weekend to the dogs and cats in our lives. The 12th annual Twin Cities Pet Expo started Saturday at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
“It’s a great way to learn about different products, new products and new services for pets, ” said Barb Kelley with the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society.
There are 100 different vendors on hand to offer the latest in pet care, but the Pet Expo is also about entertainment. Crowd favorites like canine dock jumping make a return. Marvelous mutts shows the best in agility and disc throwing. But there’s one event that shows off the skill of an unexpected animal.
“They can see rabbits of all shapes, sizes and descriptions working this obstacle course behind me, ” said Jody Baum with the Twin Cities Pet Expo.
The Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society shows that bunnies shouldn’t be underestimated. Dogs aren’t the only ones who can overcome an obstacle course.
“Rabbits are easy, they learn quickly. They learn words quickly, they work on body language commands so they find it easy to do, ” said Baum.
Rabbits are at their best and showing that they too can make a great pet.
New this year, you can actually bring your pet. You just have to bring along the paperwork to show it’s vaccinated. The Twin Cities Pet Expo runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $9 for adults $3 for children.

Pitbull awareness day
pitbull awareness day
Event Date: October 18, 2008
It is time to dispel the ignorance and realities around this breed and teach responsible pet ownership A pit needs an owner who is willing to show positive leadership and spend time training their pooch. A pit may not be the right dog for you, but ignorance is not a reason to not adopt or ban a breed. Education is the Key.
This is a huge event and will need teams of people to make this successful
